Folkestone Town Council to massively boost cycle stands across Town

Bicycle StandsFolkestone Town Council have got the go-ahead to install 32 new cycle stands this year across the town in a major boost to cycling provision in the town. The 32 new stands will be in clusters in key spots identified with the Folkestone / Shepway Cycling Forum, including locations in Cheriton / Morehall, Harbour and Park wards.

New stands on Folkestone Town Centre and the Lower Leas Park are also planned for next year in Harvey Central ward.

The new stands for this year are planned to be installed near:

  • Cheriton Post Office, Cheriton High Street (3 stands)
  • KFC, Cheriton High Street (2)
  • Sunny Sands Beach, The Stade (5)
  • Beach Street / Harbour Approach (5)
  • Folkestone Sports Centre, Radnor Park Avenue (5)
  • Polo Ground, Cheriton Road (4)
  • Radnor Park (4)
  • Folkestone Bowls Centre, Cheriton Road (4)

Folkestone Town Councillor Tim Prater commented:

"The new cycle stands will be a big boost to cycling provision in Folkestone, and I'm really pleased the Town Council has been able to make progress on this. Hopefully the new stands will be in place in the near future, and we can see even more in place next year."
