Snow Liability

Tue 12th Jan 2010

An email from Kent County Council Environment, Highways and Waste Cabinet member Nick Chard arrived with Tim Prater today, detailing the responsibilities of Local Authorities, individuals and businesses to clear ice and snow. Tim had always hoped the view that an individual could be sued for clearing snow if then someone fell was an urban myth. Seems not. Nick says:

"Some headteachers earn more than me" says Kent CC Chief Executive

Written by Tim Prater and published in Letter to Kent County Council Chief Executive Peter Gilroy on Tue 5th Jan 2010

I have just watched with interest your interview on ITV Meridian TV this evening, where you described your £250k pa salary as being "less than that of some headteachers". I wonder if you could justify that statement.

Dungeness: The REAL Nuclear Option

Written by Tim Prater on Tue 24th Nov 2009

It's easy - and understandable - for the recent decision on Dungeness to be seen as a hammer blow to the Marsh economy. The decision to provisionally exclude Dungeness from the list of 10 sites being considered for new Nuclear build seems to put at threat the potential of 600 local jobs - maybe more. Of course we want those jobs locally, and Dungeness has a long and proud association with the safe generation of nuclear power.
